Who do we work with?

SEW INSPIRATIONAL. Robbie the tea cosy has a heart - warming story to tell. That's because he is the result of a collaboration between an Australian design team including Hayley Allen and a group of women in Lima, Peru, who a producing a contemporary range of knitted/crocheted fashion and homewares. Think Country Women's Association
At the Peruvian end of this unique partnership are women who live in shantytowns on the outskirts of Lima, the capital of Peru. Living conditions are impoverished, houses have dirt floors, and no running water or electricity.
Unemployment here is round 70% and families struggle to eat daily and to educate their children. Yet the women are capable and positive, and eager to take on any work that will provide decent living conditions for their families.
Working amongst these women are three Australian Mercy Sisters from Sydney who have established with Australian donations, clean, light airy premises where the women can work together in a congenial atmosphere as they produce the knitted products you see on this website.
The women who produce beautiful crocheted products like the Clare coin purse, mostly do so from home.The money they are paid is above-market for their work, and by purchasing these products you are helping these women to take that vital first step out of poverty.

Surrounded by the Mountains in Nepal is a viilage of crafts people mainly those are women.
They create by hand beautiful wool felted and cotton crocheted crafts of colours of Nepal.
The women who work have dreams to further help those in their community, family, lthey ike to listen to music and woiuld like to travel.
The soul in each item on our web site is made with love & will give you a feeling much more than you expect.

Hayley Allen my brother Levon's partner, is the designer behind Tika. She has a range hand made by the Peruvian women including, toys, bags, baby blankets, purses, gloves scraves,bracelets, my fav tea cosy, cushions & throws. She like the women who made them has lovingly named each item after family and friends who inspire her.

Nepalese Wool Felt & Cotton Crochet

Soft toys hand and finger puppets, baby blankets, beads and floor cushions We take pride in the designs our products a minimum of stitching is necessary for the construction.For instance, our hand puppets are wet felted inone piece, then some of the decoration is sewn on.
This way the item is stronger and there's less likelihoodof something falling off, and it looks better!

The are all 100% wool or cotton and have either pure cotton or pure wool filling.

Wood for Wee Ones

A small family venture four people. Master British Craftsman Dad, Writer Mum, and two wee ones who help with, testing toys, and giving the inspiration to create.
This is a labor of love and this sweet family are so honored to make each handcrafted item. The wood teethers are all unique. No two items are alike as they are handcrafted. Wood veries in grain and colors. Each piece is gorgeous though! We're also privileged to help support these parents work from home.
