  • The sling allows you at least one hand free, and when your baby is older and/or you feel more confident wearing him/her, 2 hands free.
  • dulce&zoet slings are made out of different colours and designs of easily washable (100% cotton) fabric, so you can find one that suits your own sense of style.  A sling works best for you if you can wear it like you would wear one of your favourite items of clothing.  The sling can be washed in the washing machine.
  • A wonderful aid for traveling. A sling-worn baby is happy and cries less.  Baby wearing promotes attachment.  Your baby learns about social interaction at adult height, while being calmed by your warmth and movement.

Our favourite slings dulce & zoet are now available in a Organic Island Baby Limited Edition of vintage fabrics hand chosen by me and lined with natural organic cotton jersey knit.

Dulce and Zoet was started by two mothers who are friends Eva and Vibeke (on the left my friend from Waiheke now living in Rome).
Eva now designs the slings but agreed to work with me on our collection.
We hope you enjoy them but be quick sizes are limited.

Newborn Wearing Instructions

Newborn - 4 months

Step one:  Hold the sling in front of you with the curved seam at the bottom.  Have all the fabric in your hand.

  Step two:  Your head through.

 

 



 

Step three:  Put the elbow of your carrying arm through... and with that baby's head.

  Start spreading the seam along the length of your lower arm and the baby's spine (keeping the arm where it is until the sling is in place).  The feet of the baby can dangle out safely, head and spine need more support at this stage.  The sling takes over the function of your cradling arm.

 

         
 

Step four:  When the sling is in place along the full length of the baby, gently take your carrying arm out of the sling and place it back on the outside, supporting baby's head as much as needed while you do this of course.

 

 

 


 

 

        

 


Step five:  Last but not least flip the fabric over your shoulder with a twist to pull the sling into size and create a comfortable shell around your shoulder.

Voila!  You're carrying your baby in the newborn carry position. 

If it feels too tight or too lose you may need a different size, but first try to wriggle the fabric around and walk around with your baby until you're both comfortable.  If your baby doesn't seem to want it's head inside the sling at first, have it out resting on the nook of your elbow until baby is content to be enveloped in the fabric.

 


 

Sizing

All slings are reversible, the inside fabric is visible when you fold the sling with a twist over your shoulder (to spread the weight, adjust the sling and stop the fabric from cutting into your neck). 

The size applies to the carrier, not the baby, and the same sling can be used from newborn to toddler.

Our slings are 100% cotton and lined with natural beige organic cotton, unless otherwise stated.

To establish your size take a tape measure and measure your chest width in centimetres, so under your arms, all the way around your body (this is above your breasts).  As a reference check, you can also take a measurement from your shoulder (outside shoulder bone, from the top of your shoulder) diagonally across your body to the top of your hip bone.

Felted Woollen Bead Necklaces

These are beautifully made with thick and chunky bright colourful beads made from felted wool. Beads are hand made in Nepal and the necklaces are made with love on Waiheke Island.
All necklaces vary slightly in design. Faith is wear an adult size necklace in felted wool and the adult amber necklace too.
